School of AREAS Scholars Honored at 72nd Biannual Honors Convocation

Sixty-eight School of Agriculture, Research, Extension and Applied Sciences students were honored at the 72nd Biannual Honors Convocation. Sixteen students made the President’s List and 52 – the Dean’s List.

The ceremony was held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the Oakland Memorial Chapel at Alcorn State University. The Biannual Convocation is a time honored tradition that allows us to celebrate the academic achievement of our students.

The theme for this year’s program was “Challenge the Present to Enrich the Future.” Mike Espy, former Secretary of United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives from the 2nd District of Mississippi, served as the keynote speaker.

This program is sponsored through the Office of Pre-Professional and Honors Curriculum Programs and Office of the Executive Vice President/Provost for Academic Affairs.
