Alcorn’s Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite selected to perform at the Honda Battle of the Bands
Alcorn State University’s Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite marching band have been voted to show their skills on the big stage.
Voters selected Alcorn’s band to perform in the 2016 Honda Battle of the Bands at 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia. Doors will open at 2 p.m. The event was created to celebrate, support and recognize the excellence of Black marching bands and the unique academic experience offered by Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Honda annually awards more than $200,000 in grants to participating marching bands during the program period.
Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite band director Dr. Renardo Murray is pleased with the announcement.
“This is a great opportunity,” said Murray. “We appreciate everyone who voted for us and we look forward to performing.”
Students, faculty, staff and alumni are encouraged to go out and support the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite!
