Student Government Association to conduct food and toy drive
Alcorn State University’s Student Government Association (SGA) is gearing up for their charitable holiday events.
The organization started a food drive Monday, Oct. 26 that will continue until Friday, Nov. 13. The food will be donated to various shelters in surrounding areas. The toy drive will begin Thursday, Nov. 5 and continue until Tuesday, Dec. 1. The toys will be donated to the children’s hospital in Jackson, Mississippi.
SGA President Adrian McLain is confident that his peers will successfully play a role in serving the community.
“With the holiday season rapidly approaching, I feel that SGA is doing great by working in our community to serve others,” said Adrian.
McLain said that he and his peers are looking forward to spreading joy to the less fortunate.
“I cannot wait to deliver the toys to the children’s hospital. I can already see the big smiles on their faces. SGA members are extremely excited about collecting and giving in the upcoming weeks.”
SGA encourages students, faculty and staff to contribute to spreading holiday cheer by donating food and toys. For more information, visit the Student Government Association Office located on the 2nd floor of the James L. Bolden Campus Union Ballroom or call (601) 877-6327.
