SGA delivers food to the Office of Global Programs for international students
The students at Alcorn State University have an array of great qualities, but the one that stands out the most is their willingness to help their peers in their time of need.
Alcorn’s Student Government Association (SGA) collected and donated two baskets of non-perishable foods to the Office of Global Programs Friday, Nov. 13. The gesture was made due to some of Alcorn’s international students’ inability to travel home for the Thanksgiving holiday break.
SGA President Adrian McLain explained what inspired him to help the international students and the importance of helping others.
“I remember last year how there were a few international students who had no place to go for the Thanksgiving break,” said Adrian. “Because food can be limited during the break, I thought it would be great to help these students so that they can have something to eat. It is extremely important to help those in need. I feel that whenever you are able to give, you should, no matter what the situation is.”
Director of Global Programs Dovi Alipoe said that the office’s students are thankful for the act of kindness.
“Our international students are very appreciative for the donation of food and drinks by the Alcorn Student Government Association,” said Alipoe. “They were moved by the kind gesture.”
