Alcorn students present at Delta Mu Delta conference
Two students from Alcorn State University’s School of Business represented the University well with outstanding presentations at a recent conference.
Cassanda Anderson, a graduate student and Indianola, Mississippi native, and Maurice Harris, a senior and Forest, Mississippi native, did presentations on Delta Mu Delta at the 2015 Biennial Conference Nov. 6-8 in Kansas City, Missouri. Delta Mu Delta is a business honor society that recognizes and encourages academic excellence of students at qualifying colleges and universities to create a community that fosters the well being of its individual members and the business community through lifetime membership.
Cassanda, who is also the president of Alcorn’s Zeta Xi Chapter of the Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society, enjoyed participating in the conference.
“Attending the conference was a wonderful experience,” said Cassanda. “No matter what level you are on, there are opportunities to succeed. What matters is how you approach the opportunities that are presented to you.”
Maurice, who is the treasurer and secretary of the chapter, said that the conference taught him the power of effective communication.
“Communication is the key to successful relationships, whether they are personal or professional,” said Maurice.
Beverly Adams, director of Student Services, is proud of how the students conducted themselves at the conference.
“These two determined individuals made a remarkable pair,” said Adams. “They were called, they answered, and they represented Alcorn with grace and professionalism.”
