Department of Health & Disability Services announce accommodations for the disabled

Alcorn State University’s Department of Health & Disability Services is providing ways for disabled students, faculty and staff to study and work without limits.

The department provides disability services on an individual basis according to the nature and extent of the patient’s medical condition. Services cover a wide range of chronic illnesses, physical, learning and psychological disabilities. Individuals interested in seeking service should self identify to the disability services office, complete an application packet and return it to the office, provide current medical documentation that proves their disability and contact disability services to schedule an appointment.

Director of Health & Disability Services and Registered Nurse Dorothy Jackson Davis is happy to enforce these laws that will remove or limit any barriers that hinder students, faculty or staff from performing at their best at Alcorn.

“Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disability Act of 1900 are federal laws that protect students with disabilities from discrimination,” said Davis. “We are committed to complying with these laws that ensure students with disabilities the opportunity to completely pursue a college career. Also, faculty and staff members in need of disability accommodations can contact Human Resources for assistance.”
