Alcorn Extension to host Shiitake Workshops

Alcorn State University Extension Program will conduct four shiitake mushroom production workshops February 20 and 27, 2016.

The times and locations of the workshops are:

Saturday February 20, 2016

  • 10 a.m. at the Pike County Fairgrounds, Wardlaw Road, McComb, MS
  • 1 p.m. at the Franklin County Extension Office, 20 Walnut St., Meadville, MS

Saturday February 27, 2016

  • 10 a.m. at 4-C’s Activity Center, 714 Beulah Ave., Tylertown, MS
  • 1 p.m. at the Lincoln County Library, 10 S. Jackson St., Brookhaven, MS

The workshops are free of charge and designed to teach participants how to grow shiitake mushrooms as well as serve as an introduction to other specialty mushrooms.

Although not required, participants are welcome to bring a few fresh cut sweetgum or oak logs, 40 inches long and approximately six inches in diameter.
