USDA StrikeForce Conference 2016 in South Mississippi

Jackson, Miss. – The United States Department of Agriculture will hold two StrikeForce Conferences in south Mississippi. These conferences are designed to improve the visibility, accessibility and participation in USDA programs and technical services available to rural communities, producers and land owners throughout Mississippi.

There will be a conference held Tuesday, June 21st at the Ronald E. Whitehead Advanced Technology Center, 72 Technology Blvd, Ellisville, Mississippi 39437.

A second conference will be held on Thursday, June 23rd at the Southwest Mississippi Community College Regional Workforce Training Center, 1146 Horace Holmes Drive, Summit, Mississippi 39666.

Both conferences will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude at 3:30 p.m.

There is no cost to attend this event. Lunch will be provided, therefore, RSVP / pre-registration is required for this event by June 14th to determine seating availability.

Technical and university academia experts will provide the most recent information on USDA cost effective practices that help improve rural communities, achieve greater sustainability, and overall improve farm management. Subject matter experts will be present from the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Farm Service Agency, Risk Management Agency, Food and Nutrition Service, Agricultural Marketing Service, Rural Development, the National Agricultural Statistics Service, and the Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce – Marketing Development Division.

USDA partners for this event are Alcorn State University Extension Program, Mississippi Soil and Water Conservation Commission, Mississippi Association of Conservation Districts, Mississippi State University Extension Service, Mississippi Department of Agriculture and Commerce, and the Winston County Self Help Cooperative.

Topics to be discussed include organic certification and marketing opportunities, food and nutrition, and other essential Farm Bill programs.
