Alcorn State to Host Annual Ag Field Day

“Diversity and Sustainable Agriculture: Providing Access and Enhancing Opportunities,” is the theme of this year’s annual Alcorn State University Agricultural, Research and Extension Field Day. The event will be held on Thursday, August 25, 2016, beginning at 8 a.m. at the Jesse A. Morris, Sr./W.C. Boykin Agricultural Science Building, located on the Lorman campus. The event, sponsored by the School of Agriculture, Research, Extension and Applied Sciences, is free.

Demonstrations and exhibits will be on numerous topics including high value alternative crops production, enhancing sweet potato yield and quality, fresh produce production in high tunnel, agroforestry, food safety, sustainable melon and vegetable productions, integrated pest management in vegetable crops, eating healthy, and animal and mushroom productions.

Persons interested in attending may pre-register online at www.alcorn.edu/agfieldday, by August 4, or register on-site. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. Bus tours to various research sites will start promptly at 9 a.m.
