Alcorn National Alumni Association Foundation to host Purple & Gold Golf Tournament during Homecoming Week
The Alcorn State University National Alumni Association Foundation Incorporated is gearing up for its annual golf tournament that will benefit the University’s Department of Athletics.
The 8th annual Purple & Gold Golf Tournament will be held Friday, Oct. 14 at Clear Creek Golf Course in Bovina, Mississippi. The Tournament will start at 10 a.m. Early registration is $90 per person. Those who decide to pay on the day of the event will be charged $100. The deadline for early registration is Saturday, Oct. 1. Proceeds form the tournament will be used to support Alcorn’s Department of Athletics.
The tournament’s top three teams will receive prizes for their efforts. A $1,000 reward will be given to the person who makes a hole-in-one. A $5 fee will be charged to those who call for a mulligan.
Chairman of the National Alumni Association Foundation Dr. John Walls said that events like the upcoming tournament are great ways to provide funds for the Department of Athletics.
“Events such as these show that we care about our student athletes and coaches,” said Walls. “It’s important that they receive our support not only from us, but also from all Alcornites. Our support helps them thrive in their respective sports and in the classroom.”
