Alcorn State University Extension Program to Host Women in Agriculture Conference

The Alcorn State University Extension Service Small Farm Outreach Training and Technical Assistance Project will be host its first Women in Agriculture Conference. The conference, themed, “The Phenomenal Woman,” will be held November 14-15, 2016 at the Hilton Garden Inn, 118 Laurel Park Cove, Flowood, Mississippi.

The coordinator of this event, Carolyn Banks, director, Small Farm Outreach, expressed, “though the main focus of the conference is to promote women in agriculture, the event will be open to the general public.”

The two day conference will provide and share educational information and ideas on new and innovative ways of making more women contributors in making farm operations more profitable. Through various presenters, attendees will be given information on topics such as: “Heir Property,” “Farming 101 for New,” “Beginning and Existing Farmers,” “Farm Record Keeping,” “Land & Property Rights,” “Estate Planning,” “Farm Loans/ Resources.”

Attendees traveling more than 50 miles will be provided; two nights stay in double occupancy rooms. Details about the various presenters and starting time of the event are forthcoming.
