Department of Human Sciences Host Annual Halloween Carnival, Trunk or Treat
Costumes, candies and lots of fun highlighted the 5th annual Halloween Carnival and first-time Trunk or Treat on October 28 on the grounds of Eunice Powell Hall. The events were sponsored by the Department of Human Sciences Child Development Laboratory Center.
Coordinated by senior Child Development and Nutrition and Dietetics practicum students I’maan Bracey, Zsatoria Smith, Kimisha Crosby, and Kermesha McGee, with the assistance from Chestina Mackey, infant teacher and practicum site coordinator of the CDLC, 60 children of the CDLC along with two centers from Claiborne and Jefferson counties participated. Activities included face painting, an egg and sack race, and carnival games.
“We want to thank our other organizations and clubs around the Alcorn State University campus for coming out and making our event a success,” expresses Bracey.
LaTricia Brown, president, GQ Modeling Squad, states, “We wanted to participate in this event to give back to our school and community. We also wanted to let the kids involved know that we care about them and their safety.”
For the Trunk or Treat, offices, departments and student organizations throughout the University, including the Child Development, Family and Consumer Science, and Nutrition and Dietetics donated candies and sweet treats.
Arthur Owens, director, CDLC prepared the food. Chasity Williams, nutritionist, assisted with the events.
