Faculty & Staff Giving Campaign Underway!

Alcorn State University Advancement Liaisons Council proudly announced the launch of the University-wide, “All for One Faculty & Staff Giving Campaign” on Monday, March 20, 2017. The employee-led campaign primarily focuses on providing University employees an opportunity to demonstrate their support for the overall growth and advancement of the University through giving.

Alcorn State faculty and staff invest their time and talents in the University and our students every day. When you extend your contributions to include philanthropy, you express your belief in Alcorn’s mission and actively support our long-standing culture of excellence. These contributions make Alcorn what it is, and we are so grateful for the role each of you play in enriching our campus.

The “All for One Campaign,” is coordinated by a Steering Committee chaired by LLJuna Grennell Weir, director of the Office of Educational Equity and Inclusion, co-chaired by Ms. Daye Dearing, coordinator of internships, School of Business, and Jamie Smith, associate director, Office of Financial Aid.

The School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences campaign committee members and their contact numbers are, Perry Brumfield, 601-877-3933 and Casnasita Gray, 601-877-6552, ambassadors; Dr. Gwendolyn Lucas-Gordon, 601-877-6253, steering member, and Don Smith, 601-877-6526, advancement liaison member. School faculty and staff interested in giving should contact one of the committee members, or for more details and a pledge card, contact the Alcorn State University Foundation Office, at 601-877-6296.

Ending April 20, 2017, University employees will have the opportunity over a 30-day campaign period to directly impact the life of the University by pledging and/or giving to areas that are of interest to them including student scholarships, department operations, etc.

"Your gift can help the University attract those who want and deserve to be Alcornites. With state funding shrinking more and more, it’s especially important that we as faculty and staff step up to help bridge the gap. No amount is too small,” states Weir.

“This scholarship was the deciding factor that enabled me to attend Alcorn State University. As a first generation college student, I am forever grateful to this university for keeping my dream alive,” states Alexis Washington, a freshman, from Gary, Indiana.

Doing well in giving as a University, also, makes a great impact on how we are perceived by major donors. Faculty and staff participation plays an important role in ensuring the University’s success as well as influencing gifts from corporations and foundations, which consider faculty and staff giving rates when determining their own support for Alcorn.

The “All for One Campaign” Kick-off Celebration that was planned and coordinated by campaign committee members from the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences was a great success. The day, filled with food, fun and great weather, resulted in employee/student bonding and many gifts and pledges to the University from participating faculty and staff.

All employees are strongly encouraged to join us in support of our University by making a gift today to further express your passion for our great students and institution. School, departmental and divisional sub-committees have been formed to increase employee giving on a competitive basis. Therefore, as a School, let’s dig deep and rise to the top of the pile as we so often do!

To be counted toward the “All for One Giving Campaign,” current payroll deduction enrollees should request new pledge cards and either re-pledge your current contribution amount or make a new pledge, hopefully at a higher dollar amount.

This fundraising campaign will conclude with a Victory Celebration on April 20, 2017 at Taylor Park. Awards will be given for the area that raises the most overall dollars and the area that has the highest percentage of its employees giving back, as well as other categories.

See you in the winner’s circle!
