Braves for Fitness adds youth summer camp
Alcorn State University faculty and staff members who participate in the Braves for Fitness program can now bring their children to participate in the fun.
The Blue Cross Blue Shield Braves for Fitness Summer Youth Camp will be held Monday, June 5 through Friday, July 14 at the E.E. Simmons Gymnasium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Camp goers can expect to engage in sporting and fitness activities as well as getting familiar with health and nutrition education.
Bradford Shedrick, fitness coordinator for the program, said that the program is designed to help students maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.
“The camp will be a good step toward helping youth curtail obesity,” said Shedrick. “Starting early in nutrition and health education, sports activities and physical fitness are crucial components in reducing childhood obesity.”
The camp is first come, first served and limited to the first 50 students ages 7-16. Applicants can click here to access the camp application. Once completed, applications should be emailed to Shedrick at [email protected].
