Indian agricultural professionals visit Alcorn State University

A three-member management team of the Unique Agri Solution Private Limited, Mumbai, Maharastra State, India, visited Alcorn State University on June 28-29, to discuss a collaboration with the School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences. The collaboration would be in the areas of teaching, research, production, and extension.

Unique Agri Solution Private Limited, a diversified company, focuses on improving farmer’s wealth through meaningful innovation in the areas of crop protection products, fertilizers, irrigation systems and agricultural implements.

The management team was led by Mr. Prasad Vanpal, commercial officer, Consulate General of India. Others staff included Mr. Vinayak Kashid, founder and managing director, Mr. Chandrakant Vanjari, managing director, and Mr. Prashant Melwane, director.

Dr. Dovi Alipoe, professor and director, Office of Global Programs and Dr. Girish K.S. Panicker, director, Center for Conservation Research, organized the meeting.

The meeting, to discuss various areas of collaboration, including student exchange programs, was attended by Drs. Alipoe, Panicker, Keith McGee, interim dean and director of land-grant programs, Ananda Nanjundaswamy, assistant professor, Department of Agriculture, Patrick Igbokwe, professor and director, Experiment Station, and Zhang Chunquan, associate professor, Center for Biotechnology. The visitors, also, toured the research stations and laboratories.
