Student teachers at Alcorn attend Praxis Examination Workshop

Education majors at Alcorn State University spent time preparing for a critical examination that's required for future teachers.

The Department of Education and Psychology hosted a Praxis Examination Workshop Wednesday, June 20 in the Walter Washington Administration/Classroom Building. The workshop aims to provide student teachers with necessary resources that would ensure passing marks on the test.

Aaron Hutchinson, an Atlanta, Georgia native said the instructors encouraged them to be aware of how they manage their time.

"The instructors did a great job at stressing the importance of time management and preparation," said Hutchinson. "They also gave us useful tips that will help us achieve successful test scores."

Brittany Butler, a Port Gibson, Mississippi native was impressed by what was taught about the writing portion of the exam.

"Gaining insight on what it takes to master the writing portion was the best part of the workshop," said Butler. "I was intrigued by all of the different writing techniques and how to apply them during the test."

Rachel Maxey, a Vicksburg, Mississippi native has faith in the workshop's advice.

"I'm thankful that Alcorn offers this program," said Maxey. "This is an outstanding program that will help us pass the test. It showed us how to avoid common mistakes and strategies on how to properly analyze and answer the questions."
