College Public Relations Association of Mississippi to offer two scholarships to journalism students
Are you a mass communications student at Alcorn State University? If so, the College Public Relations Association of Mississippi (CPRAM) is offering a reward to students that will aid them on their journey through college.
CPRAM will award two $1,000 scholarships per year for students majoring in communications, journalism, advertising, mass communications, political communications or other communications-related fields.
Students applying for the scholarship must be in good standing and present three letters of recommendation from individuals connected to Alcorn that may include college advisers, high school teacher, official or home school teacher, or an active CPRAM member.
Applicants must complete the full scholarship application and return it to the scholarship committee by Friday, Feb. 15. Applicants also must include a 500-word essay entitled, "With all the changes being made in the field of communications, what skills do I have to keep up with these changes?"
De'Shane Frye, a mass communication student from Marrero, LA and former recipient of the CPRAM scholarship as a student at Hinds Community College, believes that all mass communication students should put forth an effort to achieve this scholarship.
"It helped take away some stress and financial pressure off my shoulders like getting books for my classes each semester," said Frye.
Frye said that winning the scholarship not only helped him financially but also it helped to build his work ethic.
The committee will announce the winner(s) during its annual conference held in May. The scholarship will then be awarded for the 2019 fall semester.
