Alcorn ranked on multiple Affordable School’s Most Affordable HBCUs lists

The quality, low-cost education that Alcorn State University offers to its students continues to garner national praise.

The Affordable Schools website ranked the university in three categories. Alcorn is ranked No. 3 on the 30 Most Affordable Online Bachelor’s-Granting Historically Black Colleges/Universities; No. 8 on the 20 Most Affordable Online Master’s-Granting HBCUs; and No. 13 on the 25 Most Affordable Bachelor's-Granting Historically Black Colleges/Universities list.

With its No. 3 ranking, Alcorn is the only school to represent the state of Mississippi in the top five. The university’s No. 8 ranking makes them one of two schools in the state, the other being Mississippi Valley State University, to rank in the top 10. Alcorn joins Mississippi Valley and Tougaloo College as the only schools from the Magnolia state on the Bachelor’s Granting list.

Interim President, Dr. Donzell Lee spoke about how affordable tuition allows students to remain focused on their primary task, which is completing their studies in four years.

"We understand that tuition fees can be a distraction to our bright students," said Lee. "We want them focused on pursuing academic excellence and professional success. We are proud to be one of the leading universities that eliminate the stress of high tuition cost so that our students can have a productive and worry-free journey. We appreciate the recognition, and we strive to keep up the good work."

The Affordable Schools website's mission is to help adults of all ages and backgrounds obtain a high-quality education while avoiding huge college costs and in many cases, college debt that can hover over their lives for years.
