Alcorn earns Top 10 Ranking for OnlineU’s 2020 Most Affordable Child Development Degrees

As more students turn to online education during the pandemic, they are becoming increasingly interested in learning about the costs and payoffs of online degree programs.

Each year, OnlineU, a leading higher education researcher and publisher, researches accredited colleges and universities to provide rankings based on affordability, accessibility, and quality. Alcorn State University continues to break barriers in the educational realm, as it was ranked as #8 for OnlineU’s 2020 Most Affordable Child Development Degrees.

Dr. Martha Ravola, associate professor and chair of the Department of Human Sciences, is proud of this attainment and credits the University for the role it plays in providing students with the option of obtaining degrees in multiple formats.

“I am glad that offering an online program has expanded our boundaries for recruitment, as we have drawn students from various states beyond Mississippi,” said Ravola. “It is an indication that our program is gaining more visibility for not only being cost-effective, but for offering students distant learning opportunities. I hope this exciting news draws even more students to the program,” she expressed.

A nationally ranked institution, Alcorn is known for its quality education and affordability. In addition to its most recent classification, the University was also ranked as #2 for OnlineU’s Most Affordable Online Master’s Biology Degrees, #18 for OnlineU’s Most Affordable Online MBA Programs, and #23 for OnlineU’s Most Affordable Online Master’s in Secondary Education Degrees.

Its Child Development and Family Studies Program is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The program of study views the child, family, and community as interrelated, and develops creative approaches to address the problems and needs of these entities in a variety of settings.
