“Alcorn State University and the Alcorn State University Foundation are excited to celebrate the Foundation’s golden anniversary on Friday April 12, in Vicksburg,” said Dr. Marcus Ward, vice president of Institutional Advancement and executive director of the ASU Foundation. “Who would have imagined, when the Foundation was established half an century ago by former president Walter Washington – at the urging of Ms. Cleopatra Thompson – that we would be as strong and impactful as ever and growing. The ASUF’s 50th Anniversary Celebration is a wonderful opportunity for our community of alumni, donors, partners and friends to come together to support our beloved Alcorn to ensure future generations continue to have access to a high-quality education and campus experience.”

The fundraising goal for this event is $300,000, which will be used for student scholarships, faculty research, and facility improvements at Alcorn.

Since its founding in 1973, the Foundation has actively supported the mission of Alcorn State University to impact the lives of students.

A highlight of the evening will be entertainment by The Unfazed Band & Show and DJ George Chuck.

This event is open to the public. Tickets are $125 and can be purchased at www.alcorn.edu/foundation/50th . Sponsorships are also available.
