Alcorn State University’s Department of Social Sciences will host its 2025 Constitution and Citizenship Day program on Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 2 p.m. in Dumas Hall, Room 107.

The annual program commemorates the signing of the U.S. Constitution on Sept. 17, 1787, and recognizes all American citizens.

This year’s program will feature guest speaker Jarita Frazier-King, director of the Alcorn State University Women’s Business Center.

Through her role at Alcorn, Frazier-King has worked to promote small business growth and development throughout Southwest Mississippi and portions of Northeast Louisiana.

King and her team partner with various local educational institutions and organizations, including community colleges, school districts, chambers of commerce, and the City of Natchez Workforce Development team to provide comprehensive support services.

Their initiatives are educational workshops, skill-building programs, and professional networking events, all designed to help small business development, success, and long-term economic viability.

She is a two-time graduate of Alcorn State.

The Constitution and Citizenship Day program provides the Alcorn community with an opportunity to learn about the vision that the nation’s Founding Fathers established for America.

Alcorn State University students, faculty, and staff are invited to attend this event. To request disability-related accommodations, contact Alice Byther, disability coordinator, at 601-877-6460 or email [email protected].
