Mission
Alcorn’s 150th Anniversary Celebration will recognize six permeating themes that are woven throughout the university’s illustrious history: family, a beacon of opportunity, aspiration, transcending, tradition, and the land-grant mission. For 150 years, Alcorn State University has defied the odds and transcended all expectations while offering a transformative education to tens of thousands of talented students.
The Sesquicentennial year offers an unprecedented opportunity to engage and re-engage with donors, alumni, and the larger community. This is a moment to be bold in our ambition to be lauded not just as a great HBCU, but as a great university. It will be a foundation upon which alumni, friends, students, employees, and the entire community will dare to establish an even greater future.
Events and initiatives — from May 2021 to September 2022 — will communicate the value and relevance of an Alcorn State University education.
