ASU Holds Ag Day 2012

ASU Holds Ag Day 2012

Alcorn State University held its annual Ag Day on Friday, March 23, 2012, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Morris-Boykins Agriculture Sciences Building on the Main Campus in Lorman, Mississippi.

“Ag Day is a recruitment event held to provide information to high school students about agricultural careers and academic program,” said Mr. Clifton Peters, USDA 1890 Program Liaison.

This event is also provided an opportunity for students to interact with representatives from private companies and governmental agencies to help make the connection between academic preparation, personnel development and employment success. Students from high schools in several counties throughout Mississippi attended the event, along with current ASU students who are undecided about their major.

“The overall goal of Ag Day is to let students know that agriculture is more than just farming, and there are many opportunities and careers in agriculture in which students can be successful,” Peters added.

For more details on opportunities available to students interested in majoring in Agriculture, please contact Mr. Peters at 601.877.3969 or [email protected].
