Greenfield Serves as keynote speaker at Diversity Conference

At the recent inaugural conference of the Alabama Association of Higher Education Diversity Officers, Dr. Derek Greenfield, director of Educational Equity and Inclusion, delivered a keynote address “Real Talk: The Role of Language in the Higher Education Diversity Community.” His inspiring and thought-provoking presentation challenged participants to critically evaluate the discourse and narrative surrounding their work to ensure that it helps to best promote the efforts of diversity and inclusion.

Dr. Greenfield invited Mr. Tony Innouvong, a graduate assistant from Seattle, Washington, to participate and bring a powerful message about the role of hip-hop in fostering student voice and engagement.

“We were honored to take part in this historic event and to represent this great institution as we continue to advance Alcorn’s reputation as a leader in the field of inclusion,” said Dr. Greenfield.
