In addition to the $500 scholarship, Joseph also received a complimentary membership to MPE for his first year of teaching.
“Receiving this scholarship brought me a deep sense of pride and accomplishment, validating the hard work and dedication towards my future career,” said Anthony. “I am overly elated about this scholarship; I will put it to great use by allocating the funds for materials needed to bring my classroom ideas to life. This scholarship brought me so much joy, knowing that I will be able to foster an enriching environment for my students and give back to the community.”
A resident of Jackson, Miss., Anthony is a member of the choir, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Kappa Mu honor societies.
“As Dean of the School of Education and Psychology, I am proud to congratulate Joseph Anthony on being selected as the recipient of the Mississippi Professional Educators Linda Anglin Scholarship,” said Dr. LaShundia Carson, dean of the School of Education and Psychology. “Joseph is an outstanding teacher education student, and as an African American male entering the field of elementary education, he exemplifies the excellence, dedication, and representation we strive to cultivate in our future educators.”
