Alcorn’s Greenfield and Aglugub named William Winter Scholars

At the Opening Ceremony of the Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration on February 21, two members of the Alcorn State University family were announced as William Winter Scholars.

Named for the former Governor William Winter and his tireless work for education reform and racial reconciliation, this recognition honors students and faculty/administrators across the state of Mississippi who make substantial contributions to the Humanities.

The recipients were Dr. Derek Greenfield, director of Educational Equity and Inclusion, and Richard Jay Aglugub, a junior psychology major from Honolulu, Hawaii, and an intern with the Office of Educational Equity and Inclusion.

“Representing Alcorn and being named a William Winter Scholar is an absolute honor, and it confirms that my efforts for social justice are necessary for myself and the campus community,” said Aglugub.
