ASU Director of Educational Equity and Inclusion receives diversity recognition from IHL

On February 21, 2013, Dr. Derek Greenfield, director of Educational Equity and Inclusion at Alcorn, was honored by the Mississippi Board of Trustees of the State Institutions of Higher Learning during a special ceremony and presented with a memorable award.

The IHL recognition event honors faculty and staff members from each of Mississippi’s public universities for advancing diversity at their institutions.

Under Dr. Greenfield’s leadership, Alcorn has received numerous awards for diversity, including becoming the first four-year HBCU and the only Mississippi institution to receive the Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award from Insight into Diversity magazine, and being featured in a Huffington Post article as the leading HBCU institution for diversity and inclusion work.

“It was an honor to be nominated by the university, and this recognition is a tribute to the incredible investments being made for diversity all across campus,” said Greenfield.
