Dr. Akash Dania, professor in the School of Business, Alcorn State University, received the McGraw-Hill/Irwin Distinguished Paper Award in International Business Studies for his outstanding research paper “Examining Performance of Socially Responsible Investing: Case of Faith Based Compliance”. The award was presented by Dr. Larry Garner, president of the Federation of Business Disciples, at the Federation’s 2013 conference held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 14, 2013.

“Our research focuses on the topic of analyzing returns performance of socially responsible investing. For example, investors who seek to align their investment strategies with ethical, moral, social and environmental consequences of their investment decision,” explained Dr. Dania. “At the beginning of 2010, professionally managed assets following SRI strategies stood at $3.07 trillion. However, very little is known about the returns performance and behavior of such funds. The findings from these research manuscripts have important implications for investors, managers, policymakers and scholars interested in this upcoming area of socially responsible investing.”

Dr. Dania co-authored this research paper with Dr. D.K. Malhotra at Philadelphia University.

Federation of Business Disciplines is one of the largest and most prestigious annual meetings for business administration disciplines and has both national and international constituencies of more than 1,000 college professors from schools of businesses attending its annual meetings.
