First Year Experience Program holds “You Are What You Tweet: Managing Your Online Presence” workshop
The Office of First Year Experience, Division of Student Affairs, recently hosted a “You Are What You Tweet: Managing Your Online Presence” workshop in the J.D. Boyd Library Auditorium.
Stanley Stephney, Black Board Support Team, Center of Information Technology Services, was the presenter for the workshop.
Dr. Patricia White, director of the First Year Experience Program, stated, “Social networking sites are places for sharing information as it happens, and for connecting with others in real time, often resulting in lasting friendships and contacts”. Addressing the students, she stated, “As with any social networks, you should be wary of the information that you share with others and never use social networking sites to bully others.”
In an interview held after the workshop, Jimera Smith, a freshman from Port Gibson, Mississippi, shared, “I am glad that I attended the workshop. It was very informative. We learned what to do and what not to do on social networking sites”.
