Dr. Wallace presents at Association of Teacher Educators
Dr. Jennifer Young Wallace, assistant professor of education, recently presented at the Association of Teacher Educators Summer Conference in Washington, D.C.
In her presentation “Teachers Want Help: Creating Effective Teacher Institutes for School District Adjacent to the University”, Dr. Wallace provided participants with a guide for establishing teacher institutes for those who serve students in districts adjacent to the university. Her focus was on the importance of assessing the needs of teachers in those districts and creating an institute that will empower them to be more successful in the classroom.
“It was an honor to represent the School of Education and Psychology and Alcorn State University. I was amazed at the feedback and the participants’ engagement in the presentation,” stated Dr. Wallace.
Dr. Robert Z. Carr, dean of the School of Education and Psychology, and Wallace piloted the first teacher institute last summer and plan to continue providing services to teachers in the area and across the southeastern region.
