Be fit. Be well. Be Brave.
Lorman, Miss. (January 10, 2014) – It is a tradition to start the New Year with a resolution and many people resolve on enhancing their health and wellness. If you are one of them, Alcorn will help you reach your challenging goals!
“We are in the process of starting the University and College Health and Wellness Model that is designed to support the development of wellness cultures that extend from the campus into the surrounding communities and schools,” shared Dr. Garry Lewis, assistant professor and head Track and Field coach in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER). “This project received $195,219.00 from the Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation.”
The project has three components – campus health and wellness, community health and wellness and school health and wellness – and will be up and running by mid-January.
“We look forward to serving our stakeholders on campus and in the surrounding counties,” added Lewis. “In the meantime, everyone is encouraged to visit the fitness room located in the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex, first floor, room 114, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday thru Thursday.”
