Department of Education and Psychology members train with the Mississippi Department of Education
The Alcorn State University Department of Education and Psychology recently participated in part one of a two-phase intensive training with the Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) through the Office of Instructional Enhancement. The training participants included Drs. Dylinda W. Younger, Sandra Hull- Wilson, Tabitha Smith, Cherly Kariuki, LaShundia Carson, Jennifer Y. Wallace, Helen Wyatt, Arnetta Crosby, and Mary Davis.
The workshop provided regional training for higher education faculty on Cambium Education’s Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS).
“This training focused on instructional approaches that address core components of reading instruction, why many students have reading difficulties and offered case studies to model effective instruction," said Dr. Malinda Butler, department chair.
