Remembering professor of education Dr. Edward Vaughn
The Alcorn family lost longtime educator Dr. Edward Vaughn Saturday, July 19. Vaughn was a professor in the School of Education and Psychology and former dean of the College for Excellence at the University. He also served as treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Wesley Foundation.
Vaughn began his career at Alcorn in August 2004.
A Meridian, Mississippi native, he worked in the field of education for more than 35 years. Vaughn began his career as a college administrator at Norfolk State University before continuing on to Coahoma Community College in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Jarvis Christian College in Hawkins, Texas, Bethel College in McKenzie, Tennessee and Lane College in Jackson, Tennessee.
Vaughn was admired and loved not only by his students, but his colleagues as well.
His endless curiosity helped him maintain a spirit of lifelong learning.
Funeral services were held Friday, July 25, at Anderson United Methodist Church in Jackson, Mississippi.
