The President’s Office welcomes Cassandra Stewart as secretary
Lorman native Cassandra Stewart is looking forward to starting a new chapter in her life with her new position at Alcorn.
“I’m excited. Working in higher education is a new beginning for me and I’m glad to be a part of the Office of the President,” said Stewart.
Stewart is the new secretary/receptionist in the President’s Office located on the sixth floor in the Walter Washington Administration Building. Her duties are greeting people at the front desk and other secretarial work.
Prior to this job, she was an administrative assistant for the Natchez Medicaid Office in Natchez, Miss. She also has over 10 years of experience as a legal assistant and office manager at Sanders Law Firm in Natchez. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from William Carrey University and a master’s degree in counseling from Alcorn.
Stewart believes she has what it takes to be a successful office clerk.
“I think I have the experience to do my best. I am a quick learner and I believe that I have the knowledge to contribute in a positive way.”
Executive Assistant to the President Karen Shedrick thinks that Stewart is the right person for the job.
“I don’t think that we could have selected a better person for this position. I love her work habits. She always understands the work given to her. She’s a quick learner and she is willing to learn everything in the office. Everything is working out perfectly,” said Shedrick.
