City of Vicksburg is ready to welcome Alcorn homecoming fans
Because of Vicksburg’s numerous attractions and cultural atmosphere, Angela Jenkins knows that “The River City” is the perfect place to have a festival.
“Vicksburg is a place bursting at the seams with local culture, character, art, entertainment and outdoor adventure,” said Jenkins, who is the festival coordinator. “With sweeping views of the Mississippi River, Vicksburg perfectly blends Southern culture and heritage with exciting modern-day attractions.”
Jenkins working with the City of Vicksburg is planning to entertain, accommodate and host the first Paint the ‘Burg Purple and Gold Music Festival and Back to the Yard Block Party scheduled for October 17 from 3 p.m. to 12 midnight.
The Music festival will take place in the 1000 block of Washington Street, which is considered Downtown Historic Vicksburg, in view of the mighty Mississippi River. One city block will be transformed into a beautiful fall evening event under the bright starts along the river. The festival weekend is Alcorn’s homecoming, in which they anticipate thousands from all across the country to flock to Vicksburg for the event.
The festival will offer 9 hours of music, plenty of food vendors and local artists and retailers that will give customers a unique shopping experience and much more. Jenkins expressed that no one should miss this extravaganza.
“From four world-class casinos and upscale shopping, dinning and spas to some of the most fascinating historic sites, architecture and antebellum mansions in the nation, Vicksburg offers an authentic Southern experience you don’t want to miss.”
