Alcorn State Braves football team celebrated for their success
The Alcorn State University faculty, staff and student body gathered in the Clinton Bristow, Jr Dining Hall on Wednesday, Nov. 12 to celebrate the Braves football team for their outstanding season and advancing to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship in Houston, Texas on Dec. 6th.
The thunderous sound of the Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite drum line bounced off the walls of the cafeteria and got everyone up out of their seats. Everyone cheered for the team as Alcorn President Dr. Alfred Rankins Jr. and Braves football head coach Jay Hopson approached center stage. President Rankins praised coach Hopson for his hard work.
“I’m really proud of what you have done for our team,” said Rankins. “You, your staff and your student athletes have represented Alcorn really well. Thanks for keeping our student athletes focused in the classroom and on the field.”
Coach Hopson gave credit to Alcorn’s staff for preparing his players to succeed on and off the field.
“I would like to thank the staff for the help they have given our student athletes. They have made sure that they get everything they need to be successful,” said Hopson.
Hopson later showed his appreciation to his players and coaches for staying dedicated to excellence.
“I want to thank our athletes who sacrifice so much for this great university. We also have an outstanding coaching staff. They go above and beyond to make sure these young men have everything they need to reach their full potential.”
