Alcorn Student Government Association gives black history trivia via social media

In honor of Black History Month, the Alcorn State University Student Government Association (SGA) is testing their fellow Alcornites’ knowledge of prominent African-Americans.

The 2015 Black History Trivia Challenge, which is spearheaded by SGA President Zackeus Johnson, started Feb. 2nd and will continue until Feb. 28. Students are to check Johnson’s Instagram page, @thee_kingzj, @yours_trulyzj (Twitter), Zackeus Johnson (Facebook) and official SGA social media pages Monday-Friday of this month to see what the weekly trivia question is. In order to win, students must hashtag the trivia question along with their answer to one of the social media pages by 6 p.m. every Friday in February.

Winners of the trivia will receive various prizes, including books about the hard work and success of celebrated African-Americans.

Johnson’s goal for the trivia contest is to strengthen the students’ knowledge of legendary black people who played an important role in changing the world’s view of black people.

“The small initiative is to inform student of different historical events that took place on each day of February in the earlier years,” said Johnson.
