Alcorn State University gears up for Mid-Winter Conference

An enormous group of Alcorn State University alumni are preparing to come together to discuss ways of improving the university.

The 38th Annual Mid-Winter Conference will be held at the Beau Rivage Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Miss Thursday, Feb. 26 through Sunday, March 1st. The conference is held for Alcornites to conduct alumni business and make donations to the Alcorn State University Alumni Foundation. In the midst of making important business proposals, Alcorn alumni will also be afforded the opportunity to renew and formulate friendships amongst each other. On-site registration for the conference will be available.

James Stubbs, who is President of the Alcorn State University Alumni Association, believes that the conference is a great chance for Alcorn alumni to express different tactics of making the university better.

“During the conference, university representatives are given the opportunity to speak on Alcorn’s concerns and needs,” said Stubbs. “Through these forums, the Alcorn alumni gain a better understanding of Alcorn’s needs and how to strategize how to better support those needs.”

With so many issues that need to be discussed during the conference, Stubbs feels that the issues will not only be presented properly, but will be resolved in the future.

“We need to discuss how to build a stronger alumni foundation and increase donor support to Alcorn. The immediate outcomes will not be seen at the conclusion of the conference. However, we hope that the proposed ideas are acted upon in the future.”
