Alcorn’s Office of Career Services presented with $5,000 check

The Office of Career Services at Alcorn State University was recently granted funds to improve the college experience of its students.

Monsanto Company, a sustainable agriculture company that delivers agricultural products that support farmers all around the world, donated $5,000 in student development funds April 3. The funds will strengthen student interest and enhance knowledge in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math related projects. A portion of the funds were used April 8 and 9 when the director of Career Services Joey Mitchell and Career Services secretary Nakita Frye took 27 agriculture students to Atlanta to the National Association for Equal Opportunities in Higher Education Conference.

Mitchell said he’s grateful to Monsanto and feels the acquired funds will help students.

“It feels great to be in a better position to assist more Alcorn students,” said Mitchell. “I want to encourage more students to take advantage of Alcorn’s resources and opportunities.”
