The Alcorn State University Child Development Laboratory Center is currently accepting toddler and pre-school children for childcare, according to Arthur Owns, director.

Available openings are for children ages 13 months to 2 years (toddlers) and from 3 to 5 years old (pre-school).

The CDLC serves as a research site for other universities academic units and provides continuous learning opportunities for community-based early childhood programs. The CDLC is under the auspices of the Department of Human Sciences and is licensed by the Mississippi Department of Health.

The CDLC uses an age-appropriate, theory-based curriculum scientifically proven to support the growth, development and early learning of young children. The CDLC consist of three classrooms: Infant, Toddler and Preschool.

To apply, visit the Department of Human Sciences to complete an application form. There is a waiting list to for the Infant class; however, parents are encouraged to add their name to the list.

The following documentation is required for entry into the CDLC:

  • Proof of immunization;
  • Certified copy of child’s birth certificate;
  • Copy of the child’s social security card; and
  • All parent meetings are mandatory
