Perry W. Brumfield appointed School of Agriculture’s director of operations

Perry W. Brumfield is the new director of operations for the School of Agriculture, Research, Extension and Applied Sciences. Brumfield, a native of Walthall County, graduated from Alcorn in 1980 with a bachelor’s degree in agriculture. He completed his master’s degree in agriculture and extension education from Mississippi State University in 1990.

Brumfield started his career with Mississippi State University as an assistant county agent in Marion County from 1980 to 1985. Brumfield worked as an area agent for Lincoln and Lawrence counties from 1991 to 1996 with various agricultural responsibilities. He later served as county director/agricultural agent for both counties. In 1999 to 2006, he served as county director/county agent for Lincoln County.

He retired in 2006 and later worked with the National Network of Forest Practitioners as a consultant from 2010 to 2015 for underserved landowners in forestry throughout South Mississippi.
