Alcorn Extension to host Shiitake Marketing Cooperative Tour
The Alcorn State University Extension Program is hosting a tour of the Mississippi Natural Products Shiitake Marketing Cooperative in New Hebron, Mississippi on Monday, April 11, 2016, according to Audrey Wilson, agriculture educator.
The pickup locations and times for person’s interested in touring the facility are:
Pike County Extension Office, Magnolia, Mississippi at 8:30 a.m. Additional pick up points will be determined by location of participants. The tour will begin at 10 a.m. Cost of the tour is $20 which will cover transportation and lunch. The deadline to pre-register is Friday, April 8. Participants will be shown how to grow shiitake mushrooms on sawdust blocks. Shiitake producers and potential growers are invited to come and learn about what the marketing cooperative offers.
Participants will also have the opportunity to purchase shiitake products after the tour.
The tour is open to the public.
