Braves football team receive SWAC championship rings

The Alcorn State University Braves football team was rewarded for bringing a second consecutive Southwestern Athletic Conference championship to the yard.

The Braves received their championship rings during the SWAC Championship Rings Presentation Wednesday, April 20 in the Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility. The team enjoyed music, cake and ice cream as they celebrated their reward for their excellent performance on the field.

Braves Head Football Coach Fred McNair showed his appreciation to the fans for their support and encouraged them to continue their support next season.

“Thank you for your support,” said McNair. “I guarantee if you continue to support us, we will do our best to bring a third championship back to Alcorn.”

Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Derek Horne praised the team for their hard work.

“This is a token of our football team’s dedication to excellence,” said Horne.

Vice President for Institutional Advancement Marcus Ward applauded the teams’ commitment to academic and athletic success and encouraged them to capture a third consecutive SWAC title.

“We’re very proud of the academic and athletic accomplishments of our football team,” said Ward. “Let’s go for a three peat.”
