Mertha George receives Certified Mississippi Purchasing Agent license

Alcorn State University Purchasing Agent, Mertha George, has reached another level in her career.

George recently received a Certified Mississippi Purchasing Agent license from the Office of Purchasing, Travel and Fleet Management in Jackson. She will be responsible for staying up to date on laws, regulations and policies affecting the purchasing, renting and leasing of goods and services. She will also be responsible for making sure the purchasing department is in compliance with all laws, regulations and policies.

George said that her new license shows her ability to get the job done.

“It feels great knowing that I can do my job more effectively,” said George. “I want to do my job in the most professional way possible."
