Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity donate clothing to homeless over the holiday break

Back in November, the Delta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. at Alcorn State University spent 24 hours outside to collect donations for their annual DK Goes Homeless charity event.

The Alphas donated about eight bags of clothes, shoes and other necessities to Helping Hands Charity Organization in Fayette, Mississippi and New Life Community Baptist Church in Woodville, Mississippi Thursday, Dec. 22.

Director, owner and operator of Helping Hands Charity Organization Rosie Hill thanked the students for their kind gesture.

“We really appreciate the Alpha’s effort to collect and donate items to those who are in need in our community,” said Hill.

The Rev. James Hardy, pastor of New Life Community Baptist Church, was also touched by what the students did for the homeless.

“It’s so many poor people in this world, so it’s a good feeling to see young people come together to help those who need it the most,” said Hardy.

President of Alcorn’s Delta Kappa Chapter Tevin Hudson felt good about helping those in the town he’s called home his entire life.

“It feels good to give back to the community,” said Tevin. “Fayette is my hometown, so I feel blessed to be in a position to help those who are struggling.”
