Active Minds Chapter promotes healthy living at Health and Wellness Fair

The Active Minds Chapter at Alcorn State University spent a day promoting healthy living.

The Chapter hosted a health and wellness fair called Partnering for Wellness Wednesday, Feb. 15 in the James L. Bolden Campus Union Ballroom. Organizations that the Chapter partnered with were Alcorn’s Psychology Society, Counseling Services, H.E.R.O.E.S., ASU-SPARK, the Department of Military Sciences and the Claiborne County Family Health Center.

The representatives presented information regarding physical exercise, nutrition education, mental health, financial wellness, sexual health and substance abuse prevention.

Dr. Martha Ravola, assistant vice president for Academic Program Support and Graduate Studies, said that the healthier the University’s students are, the better they will perform in the classroom.

“Healthy students are better learners,” said Ravola. “The wellness events help students understand the importance of health and wellness and also gather resources that will help them stay healthy.”

Ravola thanks the organizations and students who attended and participated in the health and wellness event.
