Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign to Kickoff March 20
Alcorn State University Advancement Liaisons Council proudly announce the launch of the university wide, All for One Faculty and Staff Giving Campaign set to kickoff Monday, March 20. The employee-led campaign primarily focuses on providing university employees opportunities to demonstrate their support for the overall growth and advancement of the University through giving.
Alcorn faculty and staff invest their time and talents in the University and our students every day. “When you extend your contributions to include philanthropy, you express your belief in Alcorn’s mission and actively support our long-standing culture of excellence. These contributions make Alcorn what it is, and we are so grateful for the role each of you play in enriching our campus,” said LLJuna Grennell Weir, campaign chairwoman and director of the Office of Educational Equity and Inclusion.
The All for One campaign is coordinated by a steering committee led by Weir and co-chaired by Daye Dearing of the School of Business and Jamie Smith of the Office of Financial Aid. University employees will have the opportunity over a 30-day campaign period to directly impact the life of the University by pledging and/or giving to areas of interest to them including student scholarships, department operations, etc. Most of us have at least one area we're truly passionate about. Alcorn means something different to each of us, and we all have our own Alcorn story.
“Your gift can help the University attract those who want and deserve to be Alcornites. With state funding shrinking more and more, it’s especially important that we as faculty and staff step up to help bridge the gap. No amount is too small,” Weir added.
As a new student from Gary, Indiana, Alexis Washington, needed financial assistance to attend college. “My scholarship was the deciding factor that enabled me to attend Alcorn State University. As a first generation college student, I am forever grateful to my University for keeping my dream alive.”
Doing well in giving as a University also makes a great impact on how we are perceived by major donors. Faculty and staff participation plays an important role in ensuring the institution’s success as well as influencing gifts from corporations and foundations, which consider faculty and staff giving rates when determining their own support for Alcorn.
“Giving to the All for One Campaign is a meaningful and selfless act, one which will leave a lasting, vital, historic legacy for Alcorn State University,” said Dearing.
Smith agreed and added, “Alcorn has changed my life and helping to shape and change the lives of others is very important. Therefore, participating in the All for One campaign gives me the opportunity to give back financially to my alma mater so that students can share in the legacy that I have been afforded, which is success.”
The All for One Campaign will begin with a kickoff Celebration on the campus green (The Yard) between Bowles Hall and Dr. Clinton Bristow Jr. Dining Facility. Other events during the campaign include a Leadership Reception and the President’s Mid-Campaign Breakfast. The fundraising campaign will conclude with the Victory Celebration on April 20. All employees are strongly encouraged to join us in support of our University by making a gift today to the annual fund, or to the cause or department you are most passionate about at Alcorn.
