Bravefest Weekend to kick off April 21
Alcornites will come together to enjoy a weekend filled with fun, food, entertainment and football during one of the University’s Bravest activities.
Alcorn State University will host its annual Bravefest Weekend Friday, April 21 through Sunday, April 23.
Activities will kick off Friday with the Always Alcorn Golf Tournament and Silent Auction at the Whisper Lake Country Club at 9:30 a.m. in Madison, Mississippi. Later that evening, the Braves women’s softball team will lace up their cleats to face Mississippi Valley State on campus at 3 p.m. The men’s baseball team will follow with their matchup against conference rival Jackson State at Willie E. “Rat” McGowan Stadium at 6 p.m.
Saturday will consist of a ton of fun activities for everyone to enjoy on campus. Some of the area’s best grillers will compete for the crown at the King of the Grill Barbecue Cook-off at 8:30 a.m. President Alfred Rankins Jr. will host his second annual President’s Tailgate from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Those who are interested in attending should RSVP by emailing [email protected].
You don’t want to miss former Braves football players suit up for the Alumni Flag Football Game at Jack Spinks/Marino Casem Stadium at 11 a.m. Braves softball fans will get to see the second match against Valley at 1 p.m.
The Braves football team will hit the gridiron for the annual Purple and Gold Spring Game at 2 p.m. Admission and tailgating is free to all participants, so come out and enjoy the festivities that the University has in store. Also, be sure to take advantage of the $100 reserved season tickets promotion. This will give you access to the same seat for every home game during the 2017 football season. Tickets and parking passes will be on sale and give-a-ways will be available while supplies last with purchases.
Saturday’s festivities will conclude with the men’s baseball team taking on Jackson State in game two of their series at 3 p.m. They will rap up their contest with Jackson State at 1 p.m. Sunday.
