Alcorn’s Incubator Farm to host Ag Field Day

Agricultural enthusiasts from around Mississippi will have the opportunity to learn what’s new in the farming world at Alcorn State University’s School of Agriculture and Applied Sciences upcoming event.

The School’s Ag Field Day will be held Thursday, June 8 at the University Incubator Farm, located at 18600 Highway 397 in Preston, Mississippi, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Researchers from the School, extension professionals and staff members from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service will present current research findings, describe demonstration plot results and respond to questions.

The panelists will also discuss sustainable agriculture production of vegetable crops, soil health, farm financial management and much more. The School’s Extension Program is sponsoring the festivities.

Dr. Franklin Chukwuma, interim assistant extension director, looks forward to hearing the wealth of new information that will be presented at the event.

“We expect this event to provide research-based information on alternative enterprises by creating new marketing information, increasing various financial opportunities and developing collaborating opportunities for farmers, researchers and extension services,” said Chukwuma.
