Alcorn’s Student Government Association wins award during Tailor Made Royal Retreat
Alcorn State University’s Student Government Association is gaining positive momentum as they head into the new academic year.
The group won the Most Impressive Student Government Association Award Sunday, July 16 at the third annual Tailor Made Royal Retreat in Atlanta, Georgia. The Tailor Made Royal Retreat gives student leaders from other historically black colleges and universities an opportunity to network and enhance their leadership capabilities. SGA President, Patrick Herbert Jr. and Miss Sophomore, Dominique Varnado, represented the University during the event.
Winning the award assures Patrick that Alcorn’s SGA can achieve huge accomplishments with hard work, dedication and staying on one accord.
“It felt great to win the award because it confirms that our SGA will achieve many goals this year,” said Patrick. “This award describes Alcorn’s SGA as being determined and ambitious young individuals who are working to leave a legacy at our University.”
For Dominique, earning the award is a motivating factor for the group’s future success.
“The award gives us an abundance of motivation because it shows that our work does not go unnoticed,” said Dominique. “If we sow good seeds, then we will reap them. It also gives me a positive outlook on what leadership we will bring to our campus.”
